Press Release Summary = "I've tried both ground deer blinds and ladder tree stands," says Marty Prokop. "I've had great deer hunting success using them both."
Press Release Body = In his deer hunting classes, expert Marty Prokop shares secrets to successful deer hunting whether you choose a deer blind or tree stand.
While there are a variety of tree stands available, Marty Prokop suggests a two-person stand for safety reasons even if you plan to deer hunt with only one person in the stand.
"I prefer the larger platform, shooting and side rails, and overall comfort of the two-man deer hunting ladder tree stand," Marty Prokop explains. "Personally, I feel safer using a two-man tree stand, even though I deer hunt with only one person in the tree stand."
While a ladder tree stand is harder to conceal that a portable tree stand, there are some ways to do this successfully.
"I find a tree strong enough for my deer hunting tree stand with smaller trees clustered around it," Marty Prokop says. "I secure the platform to the large tree positioned so the smaller trees camouflage - or break up the visual pattern of - the deer hunting tree stand."
If you can't find such a tree, a tree with low hanging branches will also help to disguise your deer hunting tree stand. You might also try using camouflage material to drape you deer hunting platform as a way to disguise your tree stand.
Deer hunting blinds can be very effective tools in helping you tag a deer or big buck, according to Marty Prokop.
"In prior hunting seasons I constructed deer hunting ground blinds from vegetation and downed trees," Marty Prokop says. "Deer moved in fairly close to the deer blinds made of natural items found in the deer hunting woods. As a result, many deer were tagged from these homemade deer blinds."
Another option is a pop-up style deer hunting blind.
"One nice feature about most pop-up deer hunting blinds is being totally sheltered from the elements. You can sit in rain, snow and windy conditions and still stay warm and dry. The longer you are able to sit in one place, the more likely you are to bag a big buck," Marty Prokop explains.
There are several things you should look for when choosing or constructing a deer hunting blind.
"Look for a deer blind with a dark interior and scent-blocking liner," Marty Prokop says. "The dark interior helps shadow a deer hunter while sitting in the deer blind. The scent-blocking liner will help, but not totally prevent, human odor from contaminating the deer hunting area."
Choose a pop-up deer blind that has large, shoot-thru camouflage mesh windows. This will let you see deer as they approach and also help conceal your movements inside the deer blind.
"Whether using a portable deer hunting blind or building a deer blind from natural materials you find on your deer hunting land, always set up your deer hunting blind at least two months before deer hunting season begins," Marty Prokop says. "This allows deer in the area to become accustom to it, and the move about in more normal patterns providing you a chance at a perfect shot."
Good luck and great hunting!
